About the Corncob Abrasive
Corncob abrasive is a natural polishing media made from corn cob. The raw material goes through threshing, crushing, and screening. The result is a granular abrasive with even structure, good hardness, and strong toughness. It absorbs water well, resists wear, and does not break apart during use.
This abrasive is made for Guangu Tech mirror polishing machines (GG9024 and GG9032). It is the main polishing medium in the dry polishing process. Since it is natural, there is no risk of chemical contamination. Spent media is fully biodegradable. There are no disposal concerns.
Six sizes are available: 5#, 8#, 16#, 20#, 24#, and 36#. Higher numbers mean finer grades, which give smoother finishes. Lower numbers are coarser and remove material faster. Many operators start coarse and finish fine for the best results. Pair with olive shell for rough prep and walnut shell for final finishing.
Common uses include mirror polishing of optical glasses, buttons, electronic housings, car trim parts, and magnetic materials. The water absorption helps the abrasive hold polishing oil during dry operations. This keeps the cutting action steady throughout the cycle.
