About the Walnut Shell Abrasive
Walnut shell abrasive is the go-to media for final mirror finishes on the GG9024 and GG9032 mirror polishing machines. It is made through several steps: desulfurization, crushing, and screening. Each grain has many tiny pores on its surface. These pores soak up polishing oils and pastes very well.
The main benefit of walnut shell is its softness. It polishes parts to a high shine without scratching, gouging, or changing dimensions. This is why it is used for the last polishing stage, where surface quality matters most. Use olive shell for the rough prep stage before switching to walnut.
Sizes range from 8# to 46#. Finer grades give smoother results. Each bag weighs 25 KG. You can reuse the media across several cycles before replacing it. This keeps costs low.
Typical uses include final mirror finishing of aluminum housings, stainless steel medical tools, copper decorative hardware, zinc alloy castings, and precious metal jewelry. The natural material means no chemical risk and full biodegradability.
